Have you had any friends, family or co-workers start getting healthy by learning from your example?
"Absolutely! It’s great to see friends, family and colleagues take immediate action to live healthier lifestyles. Many have joined gyms, purchased equipment to workout at home or exercising to FitTv."
What kind of experience have you had taking your healthy lifestyle to work? Has it been hard to eat healthy?
"Not really, I stopped eating the usual fast food meals. When I eat out, I make sure to I eat in. As a general rule, the restaurant can not have a drive affix to the building. My colleagues and students monitor everything I do. Recently, I was stopped by a colleague and asked if the bag I was carrying was from McDonalds. Are you kidding me, was my reply. I had to quickly show the bag was not from McDonalds. I appreciate the thought and concern they show me. My students challenge me to exercise with them during gym or at lunch. I challenged every student to a jump rope and push up contest. This was fun and the word spread like wild fire throughout the building. If anyone beats me I have to announce their name during morning announcements."
What's something that you've struggled with this month?
"This month I struggled uploading my meals online. However, I do record what I eat using my voice recorder on my cell phone. I just need to transcribe it to the web. I plan to get better by familiarizing myself with the sparkpeople Web site. I plan to do better within the next month."

Have your goals changed at all now that you can see the weight coming off?
"My goals are the same. I do believe I would reach my weight goal by my birthday, April 20th. After reaching my ideal weight, I would evaluate what area I want to focus on and create a new goal with my team."
What has been the most rewarding part of this adventure so far?

Brian Hossink of Fitness Together in Okemos on Kenny
“Ken and I have been talking about coming into the studio with his mind 100 percent in the game – and he does. His attitude is one of his biggest strengths. His desire is to always to “take it to the next level”, and he is willing to do the work to accomplish it. His training sessions are becoming very demanding, and yet he never complains and still comes back for more! Ken is an influencer. It is rewarding to hear how he is influencing the kids at Pattengill Middle school. During the lunch hour he is now challenging students to jump rope and push up competitions. The winners get in the food line first. His inner transformation is helping other people take health and fitness seriously."
Carrie Crandall, RD on Kenny Bey
"Kenny is doing extremely well. He has taken everything we have discussed and put it into practice! He has began planning all meals and snacks utilizing less convenience foods and choosing more nutrient dense foods. As a result of his planning he has eliminated fast food and eating on the fly, thus decreasing his caloric and fat intake. Kenny has a much better understanding of his food choices and how they affect his health and fuel his exercise verse hunger alone. He's very enthusiastic and motivated toward living a healthy lifestyle which is helping him to achieve his goals even while enjoying a little movie theater popcorn once in a while!"
