The 2008 Challenge is on!

Meet the three contestants who will take on the 2008 Healthy Lifestyle Challenge

Of the more than 300 entries for the 2008 Healthy Lifestyle Challenge, Rick Smith, 54, of Eaton Rapids, Christine White, 32, of East Lansing, and Dawn Kobus, 40, of Stockbridge, stood out as the ideal challengers.

The 2008 Healthy Lifestyle Challenge will follow the three contestants for the first six months of 2008 as they strive to make personal changes in their lifestyle with the help of a physical trainer and nutritionist and the support of the readership of Healthy & Fit Magazine. Assisting in this yearÕs challenge at Tim Hough, of TrainerÕs Studio and Jessica Taranto, at Ingham Healthwise University.

They will be working with White. Debbie Kennedy, of the Westside YMCA, and Melanie Stanczak, of Hayes Green Beach Hospital, will be working with Smith.

Jason McGammon, of Iron Quest Fitness, will work exclusively with Kobus. ÒI need to jump start a healthy lifestyle,Ó Smith said. ÒThis challenge could make a difference in my life and I want to play with my grandchildren.Ó

ÒI know this challenge is just what I need to get me going in the right direction,Ó White said. ÒI have watched the past participants in amazement. Everyone needs a swift kick in the pants and IÕm ready to kick it into high gear.Ó

ÒI know I can lose weight, but it is keeping off that is the hard part,Ó Kobus said. ÒI know that a permanent lifestyle change is the way to go.Ó
