Fitness room Feng Shui: Get the most out of your work out

In Chinese metaphysical studies, we often hear reference to the Three Lucks. Heaven Luck: what we are born with, our constitution; Man Luck: the decisions we make; and Earth Luck: Feng Shui. By choosing to work out, you already are making a huge contribution to your well being via Man Luck.

We can also utilize Earth Luck (Feng Shui) to synergistically enhance our lives for a truly holistic approach to well being and satisfaction. Feng Shui is the study of how energies flow through an area and how we can best use those energies. Through concentrated study of the interactions between yin (quiet) and yang (active) energies as well as studying the five qualities of energy within a place, a Feng Shui consultant can ascertain possible effects the people within the house, room or building may experience. An in-depth study of Traditional Feng Shui can address wealth, health and relationships of the people living and working there.

To assist in a smooth, harmonious flow of energy, the workout area should be kept clean and uncluttered with easy access to and around the workout equipment. If space allows, with the assistance of an easy mathematical formula, you can even choose to face favorable and avoid unfavorable directions while exercising. (The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Feng Shui by Elizabeth Moran, Master Joseph Yu and Master Val Biktashev is an excellent resource.) Further, having a CD of beautiful piano music or a regal sounding chiming clock heard in the background is helpful to avoid injuries caused by combinations of unfavorable energies. Also, unless a Feng Shui consultant has assessed the area, avoid the use of fiery red colors even in small doses.
