Kettlebell Class Offered at 2010 Healthy & Fit Expo!

A women uses kettlebells to exercise

Coming to the Lansing Center on September 25th from 10-4, the Healthy & Fit Expo will feature kettlebell instruction on the demonstration stage.

Kettlebells have been gaining in popularity in gym classes and personal-training sessions.  Working the entire body while offering cardio, kettlebells provide a free weight environment where the body works against gravity, causing a very efficient workout — kettlebells use more muscles because you have to stabilize your body against the momentum of the kettlebell.

How they work
Most kettlebell workouts start with a few warm-ups without bells to get your joints ready for swinging. Then, using a bell of usually 15 pounds (they range from 8 to 90 pounds), you do a combination of static strength moves (like shoulder presses, squats, or rows) and active ones (swinging the bell with one arm from between your legs to above your shoulders, for example); you end with stretching.

The bottom line
If you don’t mind taking time to learn the right form, kettlebells offer a variety of challenging, full-body moves.

Always be sure to get proper instruction on form and technique for ANY exercise, or you could risk injury. The FREE Healthy & Fit Expo will provide the perfect opportunity see this exercise demonstrated. Learn how using kettlebells could benefit you! Mark your calendar – Saturday, September 25th from 10am-4pm in the Lansing Center!
