Peckham Hosts Ability Tour Focusing on the Abilities of Persons with Disabilities
The Peckham Community Partnership Foundation is hosting the Ability Tour, Saturday, July 25, 2009. This non-competitive bicycle tour offers 8, 30 and 50-mile routes that begin at Peckham’s new building, 3510 Capital City Blvd., in Lansing, MI. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the Tour begins shortly after 9 a.m. Registration is $20 prior to July 1, after that date registration is $25. Registration forms are available online at www.abilitytour.org or at Playmakers, 2299 W. Grand River Avenue in Okemos.
The Ability Tour is partnering with the League of Michigan Bicyclists and PEAC (Programs to Educate All Cyclists) and is striving to increase awareness of the recreational needs of persons with disabilities by encouraging those with disabilities to participate. The Ability Tour will feature assistive technology offering people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, including cycling. Cycling assistive technology is provided by PEAC (Programs to Educate All Cyclists).
“Peckham is home to many avid cyclists and has a strong focus on health and wellness for staff and clients,” said Josh Britton, Human Resource Intake Specialist with Peckham and Ability Tour Co-Chair.
