Marble Family Wellness Night
As you are likely aware, increasing childhood obesity and the lack of physical activity are of great concern among our youth within the State of Michigan and throughout the United States. The Wellness Committee at Marble Elementary School in East Lansing is comprised of dedicated parents that are passionate about providing our children with opportunities to learn about healthy lifestyle changes and positive physical movement experiences to combat these issues. On Thursday April 30th, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, The Marble Elementary School Wellness Committee will be hosting a Family Wellness Night. This special evening is bound to be an exciting, fun, and educational event for the kids and their families.
Events for the evening will begin with fitness expert Chris Johnson inspiring and motivating those participating how to acquire and maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout their lifespan. This will be followed by an educational journey throughout the halls and classrooms of Marble School where families will encounter a wealth of information about the Safe Routes to Schools Initiative, Wellness Wednesdays, local food stores, local nature centers, local Michigan farmers, health clubs, The City of East Lansing Parks and Recreation, and many other local businesses. There will also be wonderful ideas about healthy and economical lunch and snack choices. Finally, upon arrival at the Marble School gym, families will be invited to participate in various and fun fitness activities sponsored by local businesses. Meet up with MSU and East Lansing athletes, along with Drew Stanton, and challenge yourself and family to many fitness activities.
We hope you can all take the time out of your busy schedules and join us on continuing to making our children healthy.
