WIN High Performance Sports Detergent

Every time I go to workout these days, I end up staring into a drawer jam-packed with Under Armor, Nike Dry-Fit and other sports apparel that I never really wear anymore; they just don’t smell right.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love all of my Under Armor shirts. I just can’t bear to throw them out because they were so expensive. Wash after wash still doesn’t make my shirts smell fresh.

I gave WIN High Performance Sports Detergent a try to see if this would be the answer. As the official licensed detergent of the U.S. Olympic Team this past summer, WIN breaks down the embedded sweat molecules that cause odor in sports apparel. The product works to break down the built up bacteria in clothing and prevents future build up. The detergent also has an optical brightener in the formula which enhances the color of fabric.

I threw five Under Armor shirts, one Nike Dry-Fit top and two regular Russell Athletic cotton blend shirts – just to see how regular cotton would turn out – into my washing machine. All eight shirts I had picked were ones I have worn faithfully to work out in for the past three years; that is until I abandoned them recently due to their smell.

Only half of a cap-full of WIN was required for a mid-sized load and I picked the “whites” cycle since I had a few gray and white shirts in the bunch. Twenty-six minutes later I gave my clothes the “smell-test” and was surprised that they actually smelt noticeably different. Not bad, I thought, for a first-time use.

I decided to put them through one more cycle to see the difference between one and two washes.
WIN made a huge difference in my five Under-Armor shirts and the one Nike Dry-Fit top. The odor was almost completely gone and the entire shirt smelt fresh and clean. I noticed the biggest change in the two plain cotton-polyester blend shirts. They finally smelt the way that I’ve always thought an athletic shirt should smell like. It didn’t smell musty or dirty, it smelled clean and new, as if I had worn it only a couple times. I hate going to the gym smelling bad before I’ve even started to break out a sweat, so having fresh smelling shirts is a bonus for me.

I love my high-performance “wick-away-the-sweat” fabrics like Under-Armor and Nike Dry-Fit, and using a product like WIN is an easy way for me to protect these fabrics.
